CONSTRUCTION materials maker James Hardie Industries NV says the company has not made a decision whether to move domicile from the Netherlands and has no plans to close its Australian business.
"Our place of domicile is still under review," chief executive Louis Gries said today.
"But moving a corporation isn`t simple and we don`t have a resolution at this stage."
The company has its headquarters in California but is incorporated in Amsterdam in the Netherlands.
A tax agreement with the Dutch Government would end in 2010 so that was no longer a reason to keep the current arrangement, Mr Gries said.
Mr Gries also denied rumours that James Hardie was considering closing or selling the Australian business.
"The Australian business is performing very well. It`s been the main driver of our Asia-Pacific business," he said. "We`re not considering the closure of the Australian business."
James Hardie reported a 20 per cent fall in full year operating earnings today, mainly because of the housing slump in the US, which contributed 78 per cent of the company`s revenue in the 12 months to March.
