T-PAIN led the nominees for the eighth annual BET Awards, an event celebrating the leading lights in African-American music, film and sport, organisers said today.

His five nods were all in his capacity as a featured artist on recordings by R&B singer Chris Brown, rookie rapper Flo Rida or hip-hop star Kanye West.

West and R&B singer Keyshia Cole scored three nominations each.

Winners will be announced during a ceremony scheduled for June 24 at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles.

It will be televised live by cable channel BET.
