"It was quite amazing looking down and seeing how many people were here," Blanchett said of the hundreds of fans crowded outside the George St cinema last night."I always knew the film was popular but I didn`t realise how popular. I hope they have a fantastic time - in Cannes I know they certainly did."
"It`s been a frenetic 10 years, now we`ve got the children out of the way our primary focus is the Sydney Theatre Company," Blanchett said.
Even at the Cannes Film Festival earlier this week, the Oscar-winning actress made it clear that Sydney and its theatre scene was now her primary focus.
"I think there`s a lot going on in Sydney and I think what Sydney needs is to be galvanised," she told The Daily Telegraph.
"I think there is a precinct waiting to explode in the city. So working with the Sydney Festival, the Sydney Film Festival, The Sydney Theatre Company and the Opera House to unite and galvanise that precinct, I think that will be a real achievement."
