Elderly man charged with 172 child sex offences

QUEENSLAND police have charged an elderly man with more than 170 child sex offences.

The 70-year-old former Deception Bay man was arrested last month after police received allegations of a number of child sex offences which occurred in the 15 months from January 2007.

He was initially charged on April 28 with three counts of exposing a child to an indecent act, five counts of indecent dealing with a child whilst a carer and six counts of rape.

Two days later he was charged with a further 56 offences including rape, procuring a child for prostitution, assault with intent to commit rape and indecent treatment of a child.

Police today charged the man with an additional 102 rape and indecent dealing offences.

He was remanded in custody to appear in Caboolture Magistrates Court on June 25.
