| Horace Newcomb - Encyclopedia of Television |
| 30.10.2007, Category: E-Books |

This is not a compendium of TV trivia but rather a serious work intended "to be the reference work of first record, the beginning point for anyone interested in exploring and understanding the significance of television in our time." Under the auspices of the Museum of Broadcast Communications in Chicago, some 300 contributors have addressed a variety of issues and topics. Entries range in length from one to several pages and include suggestions for further reading. Crisp black-and-white photographs, such as studio publicity stills and headshots of individual personalities, are sprinkled throughout the double-column text. Although there are entries on individual television programs complete with cast lists, these are offered only for programs considered to be of particular significance?typical of a certain program genre, controversial because of subject matter, the first of its kind, etc. More commonly, the essays cover broader topics (e.g., the history of a network or organization and subjects like censorship of tabloid television). Notable individuals, from performers to producers to inventors, are also profiled. The focus may be on television in English-speaking countries, but the scope has been widened to include articles surveying the medium in more than a few other countries. From "Absolutely Fabulous" to "Vladimir Zworykin," this is a gold mine of information for those toiling in the fields of communications, popular culture, and related subjects |

>>> When the first edition of Weight Training For Dummies was published, lifting weights was on the verge of becoming a mainstream phenomenon.
Women, Baby Boomers, seniors — all these groups were starting to get
the message: Hoisting hunks of iron benefits everyone, not just bodybuilders
with shoulders wider than the wingspan of a DC-10.
Now, four years later, weight training has become even more popular. Some
87 percent of all health clubs now offer personal training, compared to 66
percent in 1996. In the same period, four million women have started using
weight machines. Health club memberships have more than doubled for
people over age 55.

::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::Ebook Info::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::
Although it stands to reason that a samurai should be mindful of the Way of the Samurai, it would seem that we are all negligent. Consequently, if someone were to ask, "What is the true meaning of the Way of the Samurai?" the person who would be able to answer promptly is rare. This is because it has not been established in one"s mind beforehand. From this, one"s unmindfulness of the Way can be known.

| Visual Basic 6 Complete Guide |
| 29.10.2007, Category: E-Books |

ISBN: N/A | 217 pages | PDF | 1.6 Mb
This book is meant for the beginner. Its primary purpose is to get you up and writing programs in the shortest possible time. For that reason I take a very practical approach (thus the title). My goal is that you be able to function as a competent Visual Basic programmer in at the end of this book, and write useful programs. That means that I don’t go in depth into theory, or into advanced topics. However this book should provide you with the ground work necessary to move on to more advanced programming topics. While some of the code examples and lessons can be accomplished with Visual Basic 4, 5, or 6, much will require Visual Basic 6.0 |

Chicken Soup for the Teenage Soul; 101 Stories of Life, Love and Learning
Publisher: Hci Teens | Date: May 1997 | Page Count: 352 | Format: PDF | Size:10,03MB
This book, the latest in the hugely popular Chicken Soup for the Soul series, contains stories, poems, and cartoons relating to the specific troubles that traumatize teenagers everywhere. There are plenty of stories about dating ("HE KISSED MY TEETH!"), friendships (don"t gossip), and school. But Chicken Soup for the Teenage Soul doesn"t shy away from the big issues either, with essays on suicide, dying young, and drunk driving. This book stems from the knowledge that teens know their own concerns best—thus, much of the book is written by teens themselves, which gives the book a very accessible, informal tone. Also, the authors had each piece evaluated by as many teenagers as possible. The care shows. Teenage Soul is always respectful, and doesn"t minimize any of the dramas of adolescence. It does, however, mete out plenty of perspective. This wise, tender, funny book is filled with wisdom useful to teens (and everybody else, too) |
